Assisted Stretching
Looking for something a little more consistent, in February of 2022, I applied for a position at StretchLab not having heard of it before. I applied for a Flexologist position at the StretchLab Waterside location, not knowing what to expect. Going through 50-70 hours of modules, quizzes, a final exam online, and a two day in person workshop where I got hands on training in stretching people the StretchLab way. We used PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) a press and release static stretch. Taking the in person final exam and passing it. I earned a certificate in assisted stretching and started taking members/clients in the beginning of March 2022 at StretchLab Waterside. Although being new to stretching people I got the hang of it pretty quick. It took some practice, patience, and just getting used to it in general. Fast forward to now and February 2025 would have marked three years for me being at StretchLab Waterside. At StretchLab Waterside I completed over 3,500 sessions where I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people ranging from kids to elderly. In February of 2023 I applied for the Lead Flex position. Getting the Lead Flex (lead stretcher) position I got the chance to help interview and then on my own train new hires. Teaching them technique and giving them hands on training prior to the workshop where you get your certificate. In May of 2024 I decided to step down from the Lead Flex position and cut hours to focus more on personal training again. At the end of November I decided to end my journey with StretchLab, knowing that I could do assisted stretching on my own. Throughout my journey at StretchLab Waterside I grew more as an individual and am always going to be thankful for that chapter of my life. I learned so much, I met some amazing people who came and went during my time there from co-workers to clients who I will definitely stay in touch with.
